  Dr. Zhong obtained a B.S. from School of Mathematics and a B.A. in Economics from Beijing University, China. From 2001 to 2004 he did his Ph.D. research with Professor Wing Wong in Department of Biostatistics at Harvard University, with a Ph.D. minor in Molecular Biology. From 2004 to 2005 he was an exchange student scholar at Department of Statistics and BioX Center at Stanford University. He joined University of Illinois as an assistant professor in 2005. He was elected as a Faculty Fellow of National Center for Supercomputing Applications in 2007. He received Xerox Award for Faculty Research in 2008.

Shu Xiao,  Department of Bioengineering

Dr. Xiao did PhD research on Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in Shanghai Institutes of Biological Sciences, China. She is working on experimental work regarding pluripotent cells.

 

Graduate student

Xin He,  Department of Computer Science

Xin majored in biology before joining UIUC. His current interests include the analysis of DNA sequences based on evolutionary models and the reconstruction of transcriptional regulatory networks.

 

Dan Xie,  Department of Bioengineering

Dan received his B.S in Electronic Engineering and M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from University of Science and Technology of China. He is interested in comparative genomics, biological networks and complex biological system.

 

Chieh-Chun Chen,  Department of Bioengineering

Chieh-Chun obtained her B.B.A. and M.B.A. in Information Management from National Taiwan University. Her current areas of interest include gene clustering, regulatory network inference and comparative genomics.

 

Feng Hong, Department of Statistics

Feng is working on his Ph.D. thesis regarding Bayesian reconstruction of transcriptional network. His research expands many aspects of Bayesian modeling, computation and inference.

 

 

Xiaoyi Cao, Biophysics Program

Xiaoyi received his B.S. in biological science from Tsinghua University. His research interest includes single-cell experimental technologies and modeling of gene regulation.

 

 

William T. Leinweber, Department of Bioengineering

Will is currently obtaining his B.S. in Bioengineering at the University of Illinois. His current areas of interest include developing web based applications.

Kimberly Vlcek, Department of Bioengineering

Kim is currently working towards her B.S. in Bioengineering with a minor in Computer Science at the University of Illinois. Her current areas of interest include gene clustering and machine learning applications.
